ARSDO to Strengthen Disaster Resilience in Zabul and Uruzgan

ARSDO will implement a four-month initiative to strengthen disaster risk reduction, emergency preparedness, and community resilience in vulnerable communities across Zabul and Uruzgan provinces.

ARSDO, with UNDP Afghanistan support, is implementing a project to strengthen disaster risk reduction and community resilience.
The project will deliver 2,000 gabion cages and rehabilitate 50 irrigation and drainage canals covering about 70 km.
Cash-for-Work activities will provide around 5,000 labour days and support approximately 450 vulnerable households.
ARSDO will conduct 30 awareness sessions reaching at least 600 community members on disaster preparedness and climate risks.
Four specialized workshops will train 75 disaster management staff and community representatives.
Ten community emergency coordination groups will be established or strengthened to improve local preparedness and response.
The integrated approach will reduce disaster risks, protect infrastructure, support livelihoods, and strengthen vulnerable communities’ resilience.
