Importants: ARSDO implements BPHS/HER AF2 project in all districts and 37 health facilities of Nuristan to ensure equitable provision of and access to basic health services for the residents of Nuristan to contribute to positive health outcomes.
Summary
Targeted Supplementary Feeding Programme (TSFP) for treatment of Moderate Acute Malnourished (MAM) children aged 6-59 months and Acute Malnourished Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women (AM-PBW).
- MAM children and acutely malnourished PLW are enrolled, receive specialized nutritious foods (SNF) and appropriate medical/nutrition follow-up.
- To control the spread of communicable diseases;
- Timely referral of deteriorating cases to Outpatient Therapeutic Programs (OTP) or stabilization centers and Inpatient Therapeutic Programs (ITP).
- Discharged beneficiaries maintain improved nutritional status through post-discharge follow-up and nutrition counselling.
- Recovery (cure) rate among discharged MAM children ≥ 75%.
- Default rate ≤ 15%.
- Death rate ≤ 3%.
- % of PLW showing improved MUAC or weight gain at discharge ≥ 80%.
1-Pregnant and breastfeeding women and caregivers of MAM children demonstrate improved understanding of optimal IYCF, maternal diet, hygiene, and care-seeking practices.
2- Community health volunteers and facility staff are trained and supervised to deliver quality SBC sessions and screening.
3- Community engagement through group discussions and household counselling promotes sustained behavior change.
